To cancel a Wix subscription, open the Premium Subscriptions page in your account, find the plan you want to end, click Cancel Plan, pick a reason, and confirm. If it has been less than 14 days since your first purchase, you get a full refund and the plan ends right away. After that window, cancellation just turns off auto-renewal, and your plan keeps running until the current billing cycle ends.
Cancel the Plan From Your Account
Everything happens on the Premium Subscriptions page, which lists every active plan on your account alongside its renewal date.1Wix. Each site has its own subscription, and undoing the wrong cancellation is a hassle.
Once you’re on the page, the steps are:
- Find the site plan you want to end.
- Click Cancel Plan. This switches off auto-renewal so you won’t be billed again.2Wix. Turning Off Auto Renewal for a Wix Site Plan
- Pick a reason when Wix asks why you’re leaving.
- Confirm.
Check your dashboard afterward to make sure the plan status shows auto-renewal is off. Keep the confirmation email. It’s useful if a billing question comes up later.
When You Get a Refund
Wix offers a 14-day money-back guarantee on first-time Premium and Studio plan purchases. Cancel inside that window and your plan ends immediately with a full refund.3Wix. The 14-day guarantee does not apply to renewals. If your annual plan renewed a week ago and you forgot to cancel first, that payment isn’t coming back. On yearly plans, that charge can be significant, so turn off auto-renewal well before the renewal date if you know you’re leaving. What Changes on Your Site After the Plan Ends
Your content is not deleted. Pages, images, and design work stay saved in the Wix editor, and you can still log in and edit.4Wix. Your custom domain disconnects and the address reverts to the free Wix URL format (something like yourname.wixsite.com/sitename), and Wix ads reappear on your pages.3Wix. Requesting a Refund for a Premium or Studio Plan Premium features like accepting online payments, removing Wix branding, and extra storage stop working. If you upgrade again later, you can reconnect a custom domain and restore those features without rebuilding the site.
Cancel Domains, Email, and Apps Separately
Canceling your site plan does not cancel any domain, business email, or app subscription tied to your account. Each has its own billing cycle and has to be canceled on its own.4Wix. Domains
Wix domain purchases are non-refundable and don’t come with a 14-day money-back period.5Wix. Wix Domains: Canceling Your Domain A canceled domain stays active through the end of its current registration but won’t renew. If you want to keep using the domain with a different provider, don’t cancel it. Transfer it.
Google Workspace Email
A Google Workspace mailbox purchased through Wix keeps billing on its own after the site plan ends. If you cancel the mailbox, email data is kept under Google’s retention policy, and repurchasing within that window restores it.6Wix. Third-Party Apps
Apps installed from the Wix App Market may carry their own paid subscriptions. On the Premium Subscriptions page, click the More Actions icon next to the app, select Cancel App, and confirm with Cancel Auto Renew.7Wix. Keep Your Domain by Transferring It
If you’re leaving Wix but want to keep the domain name, transfer it to a new registrar before the Wix registration expires. Unlock the domain in your Wix domain settings, request an authorization code (also called an EPP code), and give that code to the new registrar to start the transfer.
ICANN rules block any transfer within 60 days of registering the domain, changing the registrant contact information, or moving it between providers.8Wix. Canceling the Plan vs. Closing the Account
Ending a premium plan is not the same as closing your Wix account. After cancellation, you still have a free Wix account with editor access to your site.10Wix. Closing Your Wix Account Closing the account is a separate action that removes everything.
If you want to close the account, cancel every active subscription first: the site plan, any domains, email, and app subscriptions.10Wix. Closing Your Wix Account Closing without doing that can create billing complications. If there’s any chance you’ll return, leave the free account open. Your content stays saved, and you won’t have to rebuild if you change your mind.
