How to Cancel Your Tesla Subscription: App, Website, and Refunds

To cancel a Tesla subscription, open the Tesla app or sign in at tesla.com, go to Upgrades, tap Manage next to the subscription you want to end, and confirm. It takes under a minute, and your features stay active through the end of the billing period you’ve already paid for. The same path works for Full Self-Driving at $99 per month and Premium Connectivity at $9.99 per month.1Tesla. Full Self-Driving (Supervised) Subscriptions2Tesla. Connectivity

Cancel Through the Tesla App

The app is the fastest route. Open it, and if you have more than one vehicle on your account, make sure the right one is selected.

  • Tap Upgrades, then Manage.
  • Select the subscription you want to cancel.
  • Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.

A confirmation screen shows the date your service ends, which matches the last day of your current billing cycle.1Tesla. Full Self-Driving (Supervised) Subscriptions Take a screenshot. Tesla also sends a confirmation email, but forum users report it can lag by a day or two, and the screenshot gives you an immediate record if anything goes wrong later.

Cancel Through Tesla.com

If you’d rather work from a full-size screen, sign in at tesla.com and follow a nearly identical path:

  • Go to your vehicle’s page.
  • Click Upgrades or Manage to see your active subscriptions.
  • Click Manage next to the subscription you want to end.
  • Click Cancel Subscription and walk through the prompts.

The website may ask you to verify your identity with a code sent to your email or phone before it processes the cancellation. Once you confirm, the dashboard updates to show the scheduled end date. Save that screen too.

When the Cancellation Takes Effect

Canceling doesn’t cut off your features immediately. You keep full access through the end of the billing period you’ve already paid for. If your FSD subscription renewed on June 1 and you cancel on June 10, you still have FSD through June 30.

After the period ends, the change is instant. For FSD, your vehicle reverts to base Autopilot (or Enhanced Autopilot, if the car has it). The car drives normally; you just lose the city-street automation and other advanced features. For Premium Connectivity, you drop to Standard Connectivity, which keeps basic navigation but removes streaming media, satellite maps, live traffic overlays, and the in-car browser.2Tesla. Refunds and Billing

Tesla does not prorate refunds. Once you’ve paid for a billing cycle, that payment stands, so if you can wait until the end of the month before canceling, you get the full value of what you already paid for.

FSD has one exception. Tesla has historically offered a one-time refund if you cancel within 48 hours of subscribing. Forum users report it’s single-use per account: if you take the refund, resubscribe later, and cancel again within 48 hours, the second cancellation won’t qualify.

After you cancel, check your next statement to confirm no further charges appear. If one does, call Tesla support at (877) 798-3752, open Monday through Saturday, 4 AM to 9 PM Pacific.3Tesla. Customer Support

Resubscribing Later

There’s no waiting period and no penalty. You can resubscribe through the same Upgrades menu whenever you want.1Tesla. Full Self-Driving (Supervised) Subscriptions Since FSD is now subscription-only as of February 2026, this on-and-off flexibility is the main advantage of the current model: run it for a road-trip month, cancel when you’re back to a short commute, pick it up again next summer.4Electrek. Tesla (TSLA) to Stop Selling Full Self-Driving Package, Moves to Subscription-Only Tesla can change subscription pricing at any time, so the rate when you come back may differ from the rate you left.

If You’re Selling the Car

Selling your Tesla is a separate action from canceling a subscription, and it matters because FSD subscriptions are tied to your Tesla account, not the vehicle. When you remove the car from your account, the subscription ends automatically, and the new owner has to start their own.5Recharged. FSD Transfer Policy on Used Teslas To disconnect cleanly, open the Tesla app, go to Account, select Manage Products, choose the vehicle, and remove it. Just removing your payment card doesn’t detach the car from your profile.

For the Model S and Model X ordered with the Luxe package on or after February 14, 2026, included FSD access is limited to the first owner and Tesla removes it on title transfer.5Recharged. FSD Transfer Policy on Used Teslas

If the Cancellation Doesn’t Go Through

Most cancellations process instantly, but the app occasionally glitches or the status fails to update. If your subscription still shows active after you canceled, or if a charge lands after the cancellation date, call Tesla support at (877) 798-3752, Monday through Saturday, 4 AM to 9 PM Pacific.3Tesla.
