To cancel a Scribe subscription, log in to scribehow.com in a web browser, open your workspace settings, and cancel from the plan management screen. That’s the path for anyone who signed up directly through Scribe. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, you have to cancel through that store instead, because Scribe’s own dashboard can’t stop charges billed by Apple or Google. Either way, you keep your Pro features until the current billing period ends, and no refund is issued for unused time.1Scribe Support Portal. Canceling or Reactivating Your Pro Subscription
Cancel From the Web Dashboard
Most subscribers signed up directly on scribehow.com, so this is the usual route. Sign in through a browser, go to your workspace settings, and find the option to manage your current plan. Scribe’s support documentation confirms the subscription can be canceled at any time from this screen.1Scribe Support Portal. Canceling or Reactivating Your Pro Subscription
The dashboard runs you through a short set of prompts. It will usually ask why you’re leaving and may offer an alternative plan. Work through to the final confirmation. Once you confirm, your status changes and no future charges post to your payment method.
There is no financial reason to cancel early in a cycle versus close to the renewal date. You’ve already paid through the end of the period, and Scribe does not prorate refunds.2Scribe. Scribe Pricing
Cancel Through Apple or Google Play
If your subscription was purchased on a phone through an app store, the charge is managed by the store, not by Scribe. Canceling inside the Scribe dashboard will not stop it.
On an iPhone or iPad
Open the Settings app, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. Find Scribe, tap it, and tap Cancel Subscription. If you see an expiration date in red text instead of a Cancel button, the subscription is already canceled. Apple requires cancellation at least 24 hours before the trial or renewal date to avoid the next charge.3Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple
On Android
Open Google Play, go to your subscriptions, select Scribe, tap Cancel Subscription, and follow the remaining prompts. Google also requires cancellation at least 24 hours before the renewal date.4Google Play. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play
What Happens After You Cancel
Canceling does not close your account. You keep full Pro access through the last day of the current billing period, then the workspace drops to the free Basic plan.1Scribe Support Portal. Canceling or Reactivating Your Pro Subscription
The downgrade is significant. On Basic, you lose PDF, HTML, and Markdown exports, custom branding, screenshot editing and redaction, desktop process capture, team comments and collaboration, AI workflow features, version history, and multiple workspaces.
Your existing Scribes stay in the account, but only your first ten by creation date remain shared. Any additional Scribes become private and visible only to you.1Scribe Support Portal. Canceling or Reactivating Your Pro Subscription You can still create and edit on the free plan, but the sharing cap and missing exports make it a very different tool.2Scribe. Scribe Pricing
Export Your Guides Before Pro Access Ends
This is where people get caught. Exporting a Scribe to PDF is a Pro and Enterprise feature, and the same is true for HTML and Markdown.5Scribe Support Portal. Exporting a Scribe to PDF Once you drop to Basic, those options disappear.
If any of your guides need to live outside Scribe, export them while your Pro access is still active. Don’t leave it to the final day. With dozens of Scribes, the process takes time, and there’s no way back once the free tier kicks in.
Refunds and Annual Plans
Scribe’s terms are direct: all fees are non-refundable. On an annual plan, you’re responsible for the full subscription cost for the entire term even if you cancel early.6Scribe. Terms of Use
For a monthly plan, canceling mid-cycle costs nothing extra because you’ve already paid through the period. On an annual plan, canceling mid-year does not trigger a prorated refund. Your access simply continues until the annual term expires.
Reactivating or Deleting the Account
You can reactivate a canceled Pro subscription, but only while the current billing period is still running. After it expires and the account drops to the free tier, reactivation is no longer available and you have to purchase a new Pro subscription from scratch.1Scribe Support Portal. Canceling or Reactivating Your Pro Subscription
Canceling and deleting are separate actions. Canceling stops future charges and downgrades you to the free plan. Deleting removes the account and every Scribe document it owns.7Scribe Support Portal. Deleting Your Scribe Account
To delete, cancel the Pro subscription first and wait for the billing period to end, then contact Scribe Support through the request form, reference the email tied to the account, and explicitly ask for deletion. If teammates rely on any of your Scribes, transfer ownership before you delete, because every document owned by that account is deleted with it.7Scribe Support Portal. Deleting Your Scribe Account
If Cancellation Doesn’t Work
When the self-service flow fails, or you’re pushing back on an unexpected charge, submit a request through the Scribe Support Portal. Choose “Plans and Billing” from the category dropdown so it reaches the right team, and include the email address associated with your Scribe account.8Scribe Support Portal. Submit a Request
Scribe does not currently offer a pause option. If you only need a short break, your choices are to cancel and reactivate before the billing period ends, or to cancel and repurchase later at whatever the pricing is then.
