How to Cancel Your Kindle Unlimited Subscription

To cancel Kindle Unlimited, sign in to Amazon, open the Manage Your Kindle Unlimited Membership page, and click Cancel Membership. The whole thing takes about 30 seconds. Your $11.99 monthly charge stops, and you keep access to borrowed books until the current billing period ends.1Amazon. Cancel Your Kindle Unlimited Subscription

Cancel on Amazon’s Website

This is the fastest route and works in any browser, desktop or mobile.

  1. Go to amazon.com/kindle-dbs/ku/ku-central and sign in.
  2. Under Your Membership, select Cancel Membership.

Amazon will try to talk you out of it with a discounted rate, a pause option, and reminders of what you’ll lose. Click through the retention screens and confirm. When you see a message saying your membership will end on a specific date, the cancellation is done.1Amazon. Cancel Your Kindle Unlimited Subscription

Cancel in the Amazon Shopping App

Cancel if You Subscribed Through Apple

If you signed up through the Kindle app on an iPhone or iPad, Apple handles the billing, not Amazon. The subscription won’t appear anywhere on Amazon’s website or app, and there’s nothing to cancel there.

Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. Find Kindle Unlimited and tap Cancel Subscription.3Apple. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple

This is the single most common reason people can’t find the cancel option. If Kindle Unlimited doesn’t show up in your Amazon account, check your Apple subscriptions before assuming something is broken.

Call or Chat Amazon If the Buttons Fail

If you hit a technical issue or would rather have someone else handle it, Amazon’s customer service can cancel for you. Start a live chat from the Amazon support page, or call 1-888-280-4331. Have the email address on your account ready.

Cancelling During the Free Trial

New subscribers get a 30-day free trial. You can cancel at any point during those 30 days and still keep access for the days that remain, and you won’t be charged the $11.99 fee as long as you cancel before the trial ends.4Amazon. Answers to All Your Questions About the Kindle Unlimited Reading Membership

A practical move: cancel right after signing up. Amazon lets you finish the trial either way, so you can’t forget and get billed. The steps are the same. One restriction to know about: the pause option isn’t available during a free trial or promotional period, so it’s cancel or keep.1Amazon. Cancel Your Kindle Unlimited Subscription

What You Keep and What You Lose After Cancelling

Cancelling doesn’t cut you off right away. The membership stays active through the end of the current billing cycle. Once that date passes, borrowed titles are removed from your devices and apps.5Amazon. Kindle Unlimited Terms of Use – Section: Membership Cancellation

There are no prorated refunds for the unused part of a billing period. Prepaid memberships, including gift cards and promotional bundles, are also nonrefundable.1Amazon. Cancel Your Kindle Unlimited Subscription

Highlights and notes you made in borrowed books stay in Amazon’s cloud-based Notebook feature. They don’t disappear with the books. If you re-subscribe later or buy one of those titles outright, your annotations should still be there.

If You Can’t Find the Cancel Option

Aside from the Apple billing situation, the usual culprit is a second Amazon account. If Kindle Unlimited isn’t listed under Memberships & Subscriptions, think about whether you might have signed up with a different email, or whether a family member used your card on their own account. Try any other addresses you use.

If the app isn’t showing the full cancellation path, switch to a web browser. Go to Memberships & Subscriptions and look for a Plan Settings or Manage Subscription link next to the Kindle Unlimited entry.2Amazon. Manage Your Amazon Subscriptions

If none of that works, call or chat customer service. They can see which account holds the subscription and cancel it on their end regardless of how you originally signed up.
