To cancel your Care.com subscription, sign in on the desktop site, open Account & Settings from the Me menu, scroll to My Plan, and click Cancel Subscription. That is the whole process if you signed up on the website. If you subscribed inside the iPhone or Android app, Care.com cannot stop the billing on its end; you have to cancel through Apple or Google. Either way, Care.com does not issue refunds for the term you already paid for.1Care.com. What Is Care.com’s Refund Policy
Canceling on the Care.com Website
From a desktop browser, the path is short:2Care.com. How Do I Cancel My Family’s Paid Plan or Membership Subscription
- Click the Me menu at the top of the page.
- Select Account & Settings (it may appear as Settings & Privacy).
- Scroll to My Plan.
- Click Cancel Subscription or Cancel Plan.
- Follow the prompts to confirm.
On a phone or tablet, use the mobile browser rather than the app. Log in, open Account & Settings, scroll to the bottom, and tap Desktop Site. The steps above then work the same way.2Care.com. How Do I Cancel My Family’s Paid Plan or Membership Subscription Care.com puts a few retention screens between you and the cancel button, so keep clicking through until you see a confirmation. Take a screenshot of that confirmation. The company does not clearly guarantee a confirmation email, and you may need proof later.
After you cancel, you keep your paid features until the end of the term you already paid for, and the account then reverts to a free basic profile.3Care.com. What Is Care.com’s Auto-Renewal Feature for Families
Canceling Through Apple or Google
If your subscription was purchased inside the mobile app, the charge runs through the app store, not Care.com. Canceling on the website will not stop it.
On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, find Care.com, and tap Cancel Subscription. Apple recommends canceling at least 24 hours before a free trial or renewal to avoid the next charge.4Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple
On Android, open the Google Play Store app, go to your subscriptions, select Care.com, and tap Cancel subscription. Deleting the app does not cancel the billing. You retain access through the end of the paid period.5Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play

Refunds and Timing
Care.com does not refund Premium or Complete plans.1Care.com. What Is Care.com’s Refund Policy Every billing term is charged upfront and treated as final, on the first cycle and every renewal after. Add-ons are also nonrefundable, including background checks (even if canceled before the check finishes), Featured Job Posts, and Hiring Helper.6Care.com. What Is Care.com’s Refund Policy
Because of that policy, cancel well before your renewal date rather than the day after a new charge posts. A quarterly plan canceled on day two of a new quarter still runs the full quarter with no partial refund.
Closing Your Account vs. Canceling the Subscription
Canceling stops future charges but leaves your profile visible on the platform. Closing the account removes the profile, messages, and history. You have to cancel any active paid subscription before Care.com will let you close the account.
For Guest or Premium accounts, open the Me menu, go to Account & Settings, scroll to My Plan, and click Close Account. Pick a reason from the dropdown and click Continue. For Complete plan accounts, the option lives under Privacy Settings and Preferences as Deactivate Account. Account closure has to be done on the desktop site or in desktop view; the mobile app does not offer it.
For caregivers, closing the account permanently disables all service profiles and removes your entire Care.com history, including messages and job applications.7Care.com. How Can I Pause My Membership or Close My Care.com Caregiver Account It is irreversible. Old messages cannot be recovered.
Pausing Instead, for Caregivers
Caregivers can pause a membership rather than close the account. Pausing stops charges for the annual background screening at renewal while keeping the profile and history in place.7Care.com. How Can I Pause My Membership or Close My Care.com Caregiver Account If you have found a steady family but want the option of coming back, pausing is the safer choice. Care.com does not publish a maximum pause length, so log in periodically to confirm it is still paused.
If You Are Still Charged After Canceling
First, check the timing. Care.com bills the full term upfront, so a charge posted on your renewal date may have gone through before your cancellation registered. Sign in and look at My Plan to see whether the system recorded the cancellation before or after the renewal.

Federal Trade Commission Announces Final Click-to-Cancel Rule Making It Easier for Consumers to End Recurring Subscriptions A screenshot or email showing you canceled before the renewal date strengthens a chargeback dispute with your card issuer or a complaint to the FTC.
One Note If You Used HomePay
Canceling Care.com’s HomePay payroll service does not erase your obligations as a household employer. If you paid a household worker $2,600 or more during the calendar year, you still owe them a W-2 by the end of January of the following year and must file Schedule H with your federal return. If the employee stopped working for you before year-end, you can issue the W-2 right after the final paycheck; if they request it, you have 30 days to deliver.9Internal Revenue Service. Publication 926 (2026), Household Employer’s Tax Guide Once HomePay is gone, those filings are on you or a replacement provider.
