To cancel your Brother Refresh subscription, log into your Account Dashboard on the Brother USA website and end the plan under My Plans and Printers, or call Brother’s Refresh Subscription Specialists at (855) 996-0277. Brother charges no cancellation fee, but the cancellation takes effect immediately: your subscription cartridges stop working the moment you confirm, any ink or toner left in them is forfeited, and there’s no refund for unused pages. Buy standard retail cartridges before you cancel, or your printer will sit idle until they arrive.
Get Replacement Cartridges Before You Cancel
Refresh cartridges contain chips that check in with Brother’s servers. When your subscription ends, those chips permanently disable the cartridge, and re-enrolling later won’t bring them back. Standard retail cartridges from Brother or authorized retailers operate independently of the subscription system, so the printer returns to normal the moment you install them.
Have those retail cartridges in hand, not on order, before you start the cancellation. Any ink or toner remaining in your subscription cartridges is lost regardless of how full they are, so if you’re mid-cycle or holding a rollover balance, print what you need first.
Cancel Through the Account Dashboard
Sign in at the Brother USA site with the email and password you used to enroll. Open your Account Dashboard, go to Menu, then My Plans and Printers, and select the option to cancel your plan. Confirmation prompts will ask you to verify. Once you confirm, the cancellation processes right away.
Your printer has to be connected to the internet for the dashboard cancellation to go through. After you confirm, watch for a confirmation email and check that the dashboard shows the subscription as cancelled. Keep that email; it’s your proof if a charge appears later.
If you’ve forgotten your password, use Brother’s “Forgot Your Password” page. If you no longer have access to the email you signed up with, Brother’s site tells you to create a new account, which usually means calling support to link the subscription to your new credentials.
Cancel by Phone
Call (855) 996-0277 if the dashboard won’t load, your printer is offline, or you can’t get into your account. The Refresh Subscription Specialists are available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern. Use the same number if charges continue after you thought you’d cancelled, and have your confirmation email ready so you can point to the date.
One warning worth taking seriously: removing the cartridges, stopping printing, or unplugging the printer from the internet does not cancel your subscription. Brother’s terms are explicit that billing continues until you formally cancel through the dashboard or by phone. People who assume disconnecting the printer takes care of it end up with months of charges they didn’t expect.
What Cancellation Costs You
Cancellation is immediate, and Brother does not refund pages you paid for but didn’t print in your final billing period. Rollover pages from previous months are also forfeited. If you’ve built up a large rollover balance, print through it before you cancel, because you won’t see any value from it afterward.
Your subscription cartridges are also done. They cannot be reactivated, even if you sign up for a new Refresh plan later. The printer itself is fine; it just needs retail supplies to work again.
Recycle the Deactivated Cartridges
The disabled cartridges are useless to you but still recyclable. Brother runs a free program for empty or deactivated ink, toner, drum, and label cartridges. Log into your Brother account to print a prepaid USPS return label, pack the old cartridge in the materials from your new replacement, and drop it at any USPS location. Some toner cartridge boxes include a UPS return label inside that you can use instead.
