How to Cancel Your Brilliant Subscription and Get a Refund

To cancel your Brilliant subscription, go to whichever service actually charges your card — Brilliant.org, Apple, Google Play, or PayPal — and cancel there, at least one business day before your next billing date. Canceling in the wrong place is the most common reason people keep getting charged, so the first step is figuring out who’s billing you.

First, Check Who’s Billing You

Look at your bank or credit card statement. If the charge reads “BRILLIANT.ORG,” you subscribed directly through the website. “APPLE.COM/BILL” means Apple handles your payments. A “GOOGLE” label points to the Play Store. “PAYPAL” means you checked out with PayPal.

You can also log in at brilliant.org and open your Subscription Settings. If a third-party store manages your billing, the page will tell you that instead of showing a direct cancel button.

Cancel Through Brilliant.org

If you signed up on the website, the cancellation lives inside your account:

  • Log in at brilliant.org.
  • Go to brilliant.org/settings/subscription/.
  • Click Cancel Subscription.

That’s it. If you’re eligible for a refund, a separate “Cancel and Refund” option appears; it ends the subscription immediately and refunds your most recent charge.1Brilliant. Account Management – Help Center

You can also cancel by emailing support@brilliant.org, which is useful if the website is giving you trouble or you want a written record.2Brilliant. Brilliant.org Website Terms of Use and Copyright Notice – Section: B. Automatic Renewal

Cancel Through Apple

If you subscribed on an iPhone or iPad, Brilliant can’t cancel for you. Go through Apple:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap your name at the top.
  • Tap Subscriptions.
  • Tap Brilliant, then Cancel Subscription.

If there’s no cancel button and you see a red expiration message, the subscription is already canceled. You can also cancel from any browser at account.apple.com, which works from Android or Windows too.3Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple

Cancel Through Google Play

If you subscribed through the Play Store:

  • Open the Google Play Store app.
  • Tap your profile icon.
  • Go to Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
  • Select Brilliant.
  • Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.

From a browser, the same list is at play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions.4Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play

Cancel Through PayPal

If PayPal is the payment method, the recurring payment lives in your PayPal settings, not on Brilliant’s site. On the PayPal website, open Settings, click Payments, choose Subscriptions and saved businesses (or Automatic Payments), find Brilliant, and cancel it.

In the PayPal app, tap the menu icon, then Subscriptions, select Brilliant, tap Manage, and choose Stop Paying with PayPal. Tap Unlink to confirm.5PayPal. What Is an Automatic Payment and How Do I Update or Cancel One

The One-Business-Day Deadline

Brilliant’s terms require you to cancel at least one business day before the end of your current billing period. Cancel on the day of renewal and you may still be charged for the next cycle. Give yourself a few days of buffer.2Brilliant. Brilliant.org Website Terms of Use and Copyright Notice – Section: B. Automatic Renewal

Canceling stops future renewals but doesn’t cut off what you’ve already paid for. If you cancel an annual plan six months in, you keep Premium access for the remaining six months.1Brilliant. Account Management – Help Center

Refunds

Brilliant’s terms state that fees are generally final and nonrefundable. When you cancel on the website, a “Cancel and Refund” button appears only if you’re eligible; it refunds the last charge and ends the subscription immediately instead of letting it run out. No button, no direct refund.1Brilliant. Account Management – Help Center

Refunds for App Store subscriptions go through Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, choose “Request a refund,” select a reason, pick the Brilliant charge, and submit. Apple typically responds within 48 hours.6Apple Support. Request a Refund for Apps or Content That You Bought From Apple

Google Play works similarly. Within 48 hours of a charge you may be able to get a refund through Google; after that, Google points you to the developer, who handles it under its own policy.7Google Help. Apps, Games, and In-App Purchases (Including Subscriptions) Refund Policies

Confirm the Cancellation Went Through

Don’t assume it worked. Check two things. Reopen your Brilliant dashboard: the subscription should show a status like “Canceled” or an expiration date rather than a next billing date. Then check your email for a confirmation from the platform that processed the cancellation.

For Apple or Google, go back to the same subscriptions list you used to cancel. The Brilliant entry should now show an expiration date and no cancel button.3Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple

If You’re Still Being Charged

The usual reason is a mismatch: you canceled on Brilliant’s website, but Apple or Google was actually billing you, so the store-side subscription is still live. Recheck the billing method on your statement and cancel through the right platform.

If you’ve canceled in the correct place and charges continue, contact your bank or card issuer. Most can block further charges from a specific merchant or help you dispute the ones already posted. Under federal rules, subscription sellers must make canceling as easy as signing up and must stop charging once you cancel.8Federal Trade Commission. Save screenshots of your cancellation confirmation and any emails. Documented cancellations make a chargeback dispute much easier if a charge posts anyway.
