To cancel a Brain.fm subscription, you have to go through whichever platform is charging you: the Brain.fm website, Apple, or Google Play. Each one handles billing on its own, so canceling in the wrong place does nothing. The steps below cover all three, plus what to do if you’re on a free trial.
Check Who’s Actually Charging You
Look at your credit card or bank statement and find the line item. If it reads “Brain.fm,” you signed up directly on their website. If it reads “Apple” or “Apple.com/bill,” the subscription runs through your iPhone or iPad. If it reads “Google” or “GOOGLE*Brain.fm,” it’s tied to the Android app.
You can also open the Brain.fm app and check your account or profile settings; the subscription status usually indicates which platform manages the billing. This step matters because canceling on the Brain.fm site won’t stop Apple’s charges, and canceling in Google Play won’t stop a direct Brain.fm charge.
Cancel on the Brain.fm Website
If you subscribed directly, log in at brain.fm in a web browser. Open your Account overview, click Membership, and select Cancel your membership. A short feedback screen usually appears before the cancellation is confirmed.
Your access continues through the end of the current billing period. Brain.fm’s terms confirm that subscriptions auto-renew at the interval you chose, monthly or yearly, unless you cancel first.1Brain.fm. Terms and Conditions After canceling, go back into account settings and confirm the status shows an expiration date rather than a renewal date.
Cancel Through Apple on iPhone or iPad
If you signed up on an iOS device, Apple controls the billing and Brain.fm can’t cancel it for you.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Find Brain.fm and tap it.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.
If there’s no cancel button and you see an expiration message in red, the subscription is already canceled. If Apple has already charged you for a renewal you didn’t want, request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com: sign in, choose “I’d like to,” select “Request a refund,” pick a reason, and select the Brain.fm charge. Apple typically responds within 24 to 48 hours.2Apple Support. Request a Refund for Apps or Content That You Bought From Apple
Cancel Through Google Play on Android
Android subscribers cancel through the Play Store, not the Brain.fm app. Uninstalling the app does not stop the charges.
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon at the top right.
- Go to Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select Brain.fm.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the confirmation prompts.
Google sends a confirmation email once the cancellation processes, and access continues until the end of the current billing cycle.3Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play
If You’re on a Free Trial
Brain.fm free trials convert to a paid subscription automatically when they end. Cancel through the same platform you used to sign up. If Apple is the biller, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid being charged for the first full period.4Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple For Google Play and direct Brain.fm sign-ups, cancel any time before the trial ends. Setting a calendar reminder a day or two ahead is the easiest way to avoid an accidental charge.
Brain.fm’s terms note that trial offers “may be subject to different terms,” so it’s worth checking the specific offer you accepted.1Brain.fm. Terms and Conditions
What Happens After You Cancel
Canceling doesn’t cut off access right away. You keep the service through the end of the period you already paid for. Cancel a yearly plan three months in, and you still have nine months. Once the expiration date passes, the account remains but reverts to whatever free features Brain.fm offers at that point.
Getting a Refund
Brain.fm’s published terms don’t lay out a detailed refund policy, so eligibility for a direct refund depends on the circumstances. For a charge that came through the Brain.fm website, contact support at brain.fm/contact and select “Payments / Account” as the topic. For Apple or Google Play charges, going through those platforms is the more direct route, since they processed the payment.
