You cannot fully cancel most Xfinity services through a web form, so the practical version of how to cancel Xfinity online is this: schedule the required callback on Xfinity’s website, then use your online account to return equipment, close out linked services, and review the final bill. The official cancellation page routes you to a phone call at 1-800-934-6489, a callback you book online, or an in-person store visit.1Xfinity. How to Cancel, Pause, or Move your Xfinity Services Xfinity’s NOW Internet service is the exception and can be canceled directly through its own management portal.
What Xfinity Lets You Do Online
For standard residential internet, TV, voice, and bundled plans, the disconnect itself has to go through a representative. The Xfinity Assistant chatbot may walk you through a cancellation request, but in practice it usually ends by scheduling a callback rather than closing the account.
Everything else around the cancellation is online. You can pick a callback time, print a prepaid return label, watch your final bill post, and download statements from the same account dashboard you already use. That is as close to canceling online as Xfinity currently permits for a typical household plan.
Pause Instead of Cancel
Before you disconnect, check whether a seasonal hold fits your situation. Xfinity lets you pause services for two to six months once per year, which avoids early termination fees and keeps the account intact for an easy restart.2Xfinity. Seasonal Management – Vacation Holds – Xfinity
Hold pricing runs well under a normal bill:
- Internet Suspend: $8 per month with no active connection (not available to Xfinity Home customers)
- Seasonal Internet Access: $20 per month with 20 Mbps download speeds
- Seasonal TV: $35 to $55 per month, including the broadcast TV fee
- Seasonal Voice: $8 per month for local and emergency calls only
Taxes and fees apply on top, and rates can change.2Xfinity. Seasonal Management – Vacation Holds – Xfinity If you’ll be away longer than six months, full cancellation is your only option.
Schedule the Callback
Go to xfinity.com/cancel and choose Schedule a Call. Sign in with your Xfinity ID (the email address, phone number, or username tied to the account) and pick a time slot.3Xfinity. Create your Xfinity ID1Xfinity. How to Cancel, Pause, or Move your Xfinity Services Booking through the site at least spares you the hold queue.
Expect a retention pitch when the agent calls. You’ll likely be offered discounted rates or a modified package before the disconnect goes through. If you’ve decided, decline and ask them to proceed. Before hanging up, confirm the disconnection date, whether the final bill will include any early termination or equipment charges, and when service actually stops. Write down the representative’s name and the confirmation number. That reference is your proof the request was placed if billing questions come up later.
What to Have Ready
You don’t need your 16-digit account number to sign in, but keep it nearby for the call. It’s printed on any recent billing statement. If the agent asks for identity verification, the last four digits of your most recent payment method (credit card or checking account) work as an alternative to a Social Security number.4Xfinity Support. Acceptable Forms of Identification Policy
Also check whether your plan is still under contract. Early termination fees are calculated per month remaining, so knowing your contract end date helps you weigh canceling now against waiting a few weeks.
Return Your Equipment
Unreturned equipment fees show up on the final bill and, left unpaid, can eventually reach collections. Both return methods start online.
UPS Prepaid Label
Sign in and open the Equipment Return page. Check off the devices you’re sending back, choose UPS Prepaid Shipping, print the label, pack everything, and drop it at any UPS location.5Xfinity. How to return your Xfinity equipment The label is free. Keep the UPS tracking receipt and follow the package through both UPS and your Xfinity account until it’s marked received.
Xfinity Store Drop-Off
Bring the equipment to a retail store. Staff scan each serial number and hand you a printed receipt. That receipt is your immediate proof of return; hold onto it until your final bill shows zero equipment charges.
Whichever route you take, return everything within the window your account specifies, typically 10 to 14 days after disconnection. Modems, gateways, cable boxes, remotes, and power cords all count, and missing accessories can trigger partial charges.
Xfinity Mobile and Peacock Don’t Cancel Automatically
Disconnecting home internet does not close an Xfinity Mobile account, but it does change what you pay. The change depends on when the mobile plan was purchased:
- Plans purchased or upgraded on or after April 22, 2026: you lose the $10 multi-product discount, so the monthly bill rises by that amount.
- Plans from March 22, 2024 through April 21, 2026, not upgraded: a $25 per month standalone fee applies to the entire account.
- Plans purchased before March 22, 2024, not upgraded: a $25 per month standalone fee applies per line.
Per-line versus per-account matters if you have several lines. Four lines on a pre-2024 plan means $100 extra a month; four lines on the newest plan means $10 total.6Xfinity Support. What happens with my Xfinity Mobile account if I move to a new address or cancel my other Xfinity services? If you’re leaving Xfinity entirely, port your mobile numbers to a new carrier before you cancel the internet.
Peacock access shifts too. If you cancel a Premium Plus upgrade, access continues through the end of your current Peacock billing cycle and then does not renew. If Peacock Premium came bundled at no extra cost with your Xfinity plan, that access ends when the qualifying service disconnects.7Xfinity. Upgrade to and cancel Peacock Premium Plus
Check the Final Bill and Refund
Your final statement can include charges that were never on prior bills, including prorated amounts for partial-month service and any early termination or equipment fees.8Xfinity. What to know when canceling your Xfinity services Read every line. If you prepaid for the month and disconnected mid-cycle, verify the proration reflects the actual days of service.
Refunds go to the last payment method on file after equipment is returned and charges are settled. Expect four to six weeks, not 30 days.9Xfinity. What to expect with a refund from Xfinity Security deposit refunds follow the same four-to-six-week timeline after any remaining balance is applied.10Xfinity. Xfinity Deposit Returns If nothing arrives by the six-week mark, contact support with your cancellation confirmation number.
Keep Your Records After Disconnection
You can still sign in and view billing history after cancellation, so download or screenshot your final statements while access is available. A comcast.net email address stays usable if you logged in at least once during the 90 days before disconnection, provided you keep signing in at least once every nine months afterward.11Xfinity Support. Use Xfinity Email if you’ve disconnected your service
Save your cancellation confirmation number, equipment return receipt or UPS tracking, and the last few billing statements together. If a collection notice appears months later, those records resolve the dispute quickly. For a disputed charge, start with Xfinity customer support and escalate to your state’s attorney general or public utility commission if it isn’t resolved; the Xfinity Residential Services Agreement routes unresolved billing disputes to individual arbitration or small claims court and includes a class-action waiver.12Xfinity. Closing an Account After a Death
This one cannot be handled online. Call Xfinity at 1-800-934-6489 with the last four digits of the account holder’s Social Security number, the account number or the amount of the most recent payment, and a copy of the death certificate. A representative processes the closure and covers equipment returns and any remaining balance. The final bill still generates and unreturned equipment fees continue to accrue, so it’s worth handling early rather than late.
