To cancel a Webroot subscription, enter your 20-character keycode on Webroot’s auto-renewal opt-out page at webroot.com/customers/auto-renewal-optout, or call customer support at 1-866-612-4227. Do it before your renewal deadline: at least 7 days ahead if you bought directly from Webroot (10 days is safer), and at least 24 hours ahead if you bought through a third-party marketplace. If your subscription came from Best Buy, Webroot can’t cancel it for you and you’ll need to call a separate number.
Find Your Keycode First
The online opt-out page won’t work without your keycode, a 20-character alphanumeric string tied to your subscription. Check three places: the purchase confirmation email, your Webroot account dashboard, or the software itself under “My Account” or the subscription details section.
Lost it? Go to the Webroot redownloads page, enter your last name and the email address you registered with, and tick the box that says “I need Webroot to email me my product keycode & complete installation instructions.” Webroot will email the keycode to that address.1Webroot Support. How Do I Request a Copy of My Keycode The tool only works if you registered the keycode originally; if you never did, you’ll need to track it down another way.
If you plan to call in or ask for a refund, grab your order number too. It appears on your receipt and starts with WIN, E, C, or R.2Webroot. Online Refunds for Your Purchase

Cancel by Phone or Support Ticket

You can also open a support ticket through Webroot’s help center under the billing category, which gives you a written record. Either way, ask for a confirmation number or reference ID before you hang up or close the ticket, and write it down. A phone call by itself leaves no paper trail.
Best Buy Purchases Go Somewhere Else
If you bought Webroot through Best Buy, Geek Squad, or Total Tech Support, Webroot’s own systems can’t touch that subscription. Best Buy runs those accounts on its own.5Webroot Support. Cancel Best Buy Subscription

Cancellation Deadlines by Purchase Channel
“Before your renewal” isn’t specific enough. Miss the actual window by a day and Webroot will bill you for another full term. The deadlines depend on where you bought the subscription.
- Bought from Webroot’s online store: cancel at least 7 days before the renewal date. Webroot suggests 10 days to absorb any processing delay.
- Bought from a third-party marketplace: cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date, though a couple of days is safer.
Webroot’s cancellation policy warns that if a renewal charge is already processing when your cancellation request comes in, it can still go through.6Webroot. Refunds Within 70 Days
Webroot offers a 70-day money-back guarantee on consumer products.2Webroot. Online Refunds for Your Purchase If your purchase or most recent renewal was within the last 70 days, you can request a full refund. You’ll need the 10- or 11-digit invoice code from your receipt and the total amount charged.
After the 70 days pass, canceling stops the next renewal but doesn’t trigger a prorated refund for time you’ve already paid for. You keep access to the software until your paid period ends.6Webroot. Webroot WiFi Security Cancellation and Refund Policy
What Happens After You Cancel
Cancellation doesn’t switch off your protection right away. The software runs normally through the end of your paid term. After that, it stops receiving updates and your device is no longer actively protected.
If you use Webroot Backup & Restore, the timeline matters more. Once your subscription expires, you get a 30-day grace period to retrieve backed-up files. After those 30 days, Webroot permanently deletes the data with no way to recover it.7Webroot Support. Storage of Data After Expiration Download anything you want to keep before the expiration date.
If You Get Charged After Canceling
Start with Webroot support and give them your cancellation confirmation number. Most billing errors resolve at that step.
If Webroot doesn’t fix it, federal Regulation E gives you a separate route. You can stop any preauthorized recurring electronic transfer from your bank account by telling your bank or credit union at least three business days before the next scheduled payment. Oral or written notice both work, but if you call, the bank can require written confirmation within 14 days, and your oral stop-payment expires without that follow-up.8eCFR. 12 CFR 1005.10 – Preauthorized Transfers
If the charge hit a credit card instead, contact your card issuer to dispute it. Hold on to your cancellation confirmation, screenshots of the opt-out submission, and any support ticket references. Watch your statements for a full billing cycle past the renewal date so nothing slips through unnoticed.
