How to Cancel Rocket Money Subscription or Account

To cancel a Rocket Money subscription, cancel it through whichever service actually charges you: Rocket Money’s own app or website if the charge on your statement reads “Rocket Money,” or Apple or Google Play if the charge shows one of those instead. Getting this wrong is the single most common reason people keep getting billed after they think they’ve canceled.

Check Your Statement First

Pull up a recent bank or credit card statement before you touch any app. The charge description tells you where to go. A line labeled “Rocket Money” means you’re billed directly and should cancel inside the app or on the website. A line reading “Apple.com/Bill” or “Google Play” means the app store handles the payment, and only the app store can stop it.

If you also see a charge labeled “Rocket Money Smart Savings,” that’s a separate feature. Canceling Premium won’t stop those transfers on its own.

Cancel in the Rocket Money App or Website

If you subscribed directly, open the mobile app, tap the settings gear, and go to your membership or subscription settings. A short retention flow will offer discounts or remind you what you’d lose. Choose to continue with cancellation and confirm on the final screen.

The website works the same way. Log in, click the settings gear in the left sidebar, open your membership settings, answer the “why are you leaving” prompt, and click through until you see a message confirming the membership will not renew.

Premium access doesn’t cut off the moment you cancel. You keep the paid features through the end of your current billing cycle, whether monthly or annual.1Rocket Money Help Center. Managing My Premium Membership

Cancel Through Apple

If your statement shows an Apple charge, cancelling inside the Rocket Money app won’t do anything. Apple owns the billing relationship.

Cancel Through Google Play

Uninstalling the Rocket Money app on Android does not cancel the subscription. Charges continue until you cancel through Google’s system.4Rocket Money Help Center. How Do I Cancel a Subscription That Is Billed Through My Google Play Account

  • Open the Google Play Store app.
  • Confirm you’re signed in to the Google Account that pays for the subscription.
  • Tap your profile icon and select Payments & Subscriptions.
  • Tap Rocket Money, then Cancel Subscription.
  • Follow the remaining prompts.

Cancel Any Active Bill Negotiations Separately

This is the step most people miss. Rocket Money’s bill negotiation service runs on its own track. Canceling Premium does not stop a negotiation that’s already in progress or set to auto-renew, and the negotiation fee is non-refundable once it hits your account.5Rocket Money Help Center. To stop a negotiation already underway, contact the negotiation team through the in-app chat or email negotiations@rocketmoney.com. To keep Rocket Money from starting new ones for you, open the Ways to Save section, tap Manage/History at the bottom, and toggle off each service.6Rocket Money Help Center. Refunds

Rocket Money generally does not refund partial billing periods. You keep access to the end of the cycle you paid for, but no money comes back for unused days.1Rocket Money Help Center. Managing My Premium Membership

If Apple billed you and the charge was an error or an unwanted renewal, sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com, select “I’d like to,” choose “Request a refund,” pick a reason, and select the Rocket Money charge. Apple typically responds within 24 to 48 hours.7Apple Support. Request a Refund for Apps or Content That You Bought From Apple

For Google Play, go to play.google.com, click your profile picture, open Payments & subscriptions, then Budget & order history. Find the Rocket Money charge, click Report a problem, and fill out the refund form.8Google Play Support. Request a Refund on Google Play

Confirm the Cancellation Stuck

Look for a confirmation email at the address on your account. If nothing arrives within an hour, check spam, then open the app and verify your plan shows a downgrade from Premium to Free with a note about when paid access expires.1Rocket Money Help Center. Managing My Premium Membership

Watch your statement through one more billing cycle. If a charge lands after your confirmed cancellation date, reach support through in-app chat or email support@rocketmoney.com. There is no phone line.9Rocket Money Help Center. Contacting Rocket Money

What Stays on the Free Plan

Canceling Premium doesn’t close your account. The free tier still includes subscription tracking, upcoming bill alerts, transaction history, credit score viewing, net income tracking, basic budgeting with two custom categories, and access to bill negotiation. You lose custom categories beyond those two, advanced net worth tracking, and some automated alerts.

Deleting Your Account Entirely

If you want your data off the platform, Rocket Money allows full account deletion. It’s permanent. Before you can delete, you must cancel your Premium membership, cancel any active bill negotiations, and close any active financial goals.10Rocket Money Help Center. In the app, tap the settings gear, open Profile from the side menu, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete My Account. Confirm with “Yes, I’m Sure.” The website follows the same path: settings gear, Profile, scroll down, click Delete Rocket Money Account, then confirm.
