To cancel Memowrite, sign in at app.memowrite.com and end the subscription from your account settings, or cancel through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store if that’s where you originally subscribed. Memowrite costs $39.99 per month after a free first month and auto-renews until you cancel, so the cancellation has to happen before your next billing date to stop the next charge.
Find Out Where You Subscribed
The most common reason a cancellation attempt fails is trying to cancel in the wrong place. Memowrite can only cancel subscriptions it billed directly. If Apple or Google took your payment, only Apple or Google can stop it.
Check your credit card or bank statement. A charge listed as “Apple.com/bill” means you subscribed through Apple. A charge listed as “Google” means Google Play. If the charge shows Memowrite’s name directly, you signed up on the website.
Cancel Through the Memowrite Website
If you subscribed directly through Memowrite:
- Log in at app.memowrite.com.
- Open Settings, then Subscription management, then Manage subscription.
- Click Cancel Subscription and confirm with I still want to cancel.
Your access continues through the end of the current billing cycle, and you won’t be charged again.
Cancel Through Apple on iPhone or iPad
If the charge came from Apple, cancel on your device:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap Memowrite.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.
If there’s no cancel button and you see an expiration date in red, the subscription is already canceled.
Cancel Through Google Play on Android
Android subscribers billed through Google Play cancel inside the Play Store, not inside the Memowrite app:
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon in the top right.
- Select Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Tap Memowrite.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
The subscription detail screen also shows your next billing date if you need to confirm the deadline.
What Happens After You Cancel
Canceling stops future charges. It doesn’t cut off your access right away. You keep the guided question library, speech-to-text, and other features through the end of the billing period you already paid for. When that period ends, active features go away.
Memowrite’s subscription also auto-cancels once your book is completed, so someone close to finishing may not need to cancel manually. If you’re stepping away without a finished book, don’t rely on that.
Before your access expires, export or download anything you want to keep. Treat the end of your billing cycle as the deadline for saving your work.
If You’re Charged After Canceling
First check the date on the charge. A charge that covers a billing period already underway when you canceled is the final charge for access you still had, not an error.
If you were billed for a new cycle after a confirmed cancellation, email Memowrite’s refund team at [email protected] with your cancellation confirmation and the charge details. Give them a chance to reverse it.
If that doesn’t work, dispute the charge with your bank or credit card issuer. You can usually start a dispute through the number on the back of your card or in your bank’s app. Have your cancellation email, screenshots of your account status, and the statement showing the charge ready. Credit card disputes generally have to be filed within 60 days of the statement date, so don’t wait.
If the dispute stalls, you can file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau at consumerfinance.gov. A company that makes cancellation unreasonably difficult can also be reported to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov or to your state attorney general.
