Canceling Gamban takes two separate actions: stop the subscription billing through whichever store or account handles your payments, then, after your current prepaid term expires, contact Gamban support to authorize removal from your devices. The software is designed as a self-exclusion tool, so it will not let you uninstall it mid-subscription the way a normal app would. Plan on the timeline of your billing cycle, not on same-day removal.
Why Gamban Resists a Normal Uninstall
Gamban sits deeper in your device than a typical app. On Windows it runs as a persistent system service. On macOS it installs a network extension that filters connections system-wide. Android grants it device administrator privileges and a VPN-level connection, and iPhones and iPads carry a system profile with a content filter. You cannot switch it off by changing browsers or dragging an icon to the trash.
Gamban’s stated position is that they will not remove the software until your subscription has ended. Their reasoning is that they cannot always tell the difference between someone who has genuinely moved past a gambling problem and someone trying to bypass protection in a moment of temptation. That policy shapes the entire cancellation process.
Stop the Billing First
Where you cancel depends on how you originally paid. Turning off billing does not turn off the blocking; it only prevents the next charge.
Bought Directly From Gamban
Log into your account at gamban.com, open the billing section, and switch off auto-renewal. Under the EULA, the license renews automatically for the same duration you originally selected unless you cancel before the current period ends. Gamban sends a reminder email before renewal, but do not lean on that alone.
Bought Through the Apple App Store
Apple handles the billing, so cancel on your iPhone or iPad. Open Settings, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, find Gamban, and tap Cancel Subscription. If there is no cancel button, or you see a red expiration message, it is already canceled. Deleting the app on its own does not stop billing.
Bought Through the Google Play Store
Open the Google Play app, go to your subscriptions, select Gamban, and tap Cancel Subscription. Follow the prompts. Google warns that uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription, so deal with billing before you touch anything else.
Paid Through PayPal
Log into PayPal, open Settings, click Payments, then Subscriptions and Saved Businesses (or Automatic Payments). Find Gamban and cancel the automatic payment. In the mobile app, tap the menu icon, go to Subscriptions, select Gamban, tap Manage, and choose Stop Paying with PayPal.
What Canceling Billing Actually Does
Your current prepaid term keeps running until its expiration date. The EULA is explicit that you cannot terminate the agreement mid-period, and the blocking continues on every linked device until the term ends.
The purchase is generally non-refundable. Stopping auto-renewal only prevents the next cycle; you will not get a prorated refund for unused time. Refunds are available only in narrow situations, such as Gamban notifying you of a change to the software that you disagree with, a suspension of service for technical reasons, or something that gives you a legal right to end the contract.
If you are in the EU or UK, the 14-day cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply once you have started downloading the software. As a digital product that works immediately on install, that window closes as soon as you set Gamban up.
Ask Gamban to Authorize Removal
Once your subscription expires, contact Gamban to start the actual removal. You can use the contact form on their website, email info@gamban.com, or log into your account and open a technical support request.
Have these ready before you write:
- The email address on your account, which identifies your subscription.
- The license code from your original purchase confirmation email, as proof of purchase.
- Where you bought it (Gamban’s website, App Store, or Google Play), since billing records differ.
- Every device where Gamban is installed, with the operating system for each.
Gamban applies what they describe as care and due diligence during removal, so expect some back-and-forth rather than instant deletion. If the software resists standard uninstall steps, Gamban support can provide a dedicated removal tool that bypasses the built-in protections.
Uninstalling on Each Device
These steps only work after your term has expired and Gamban has authorized the uninstall. Trying them earlier will usually fail.
Windows
Press Windows key + I to open Settings, choose Apps, then Apps and Features. Search for Gamban, click it, and choose Uninstall. Follow the prompts and restart when asked. The restart matters because Gamban runs as a system service that modifies DNS settings, and normal network behavior only returns after a reboot. If the standard uninstaller fails, you may need to boot into Safe Mode or use the removal tool from Gamban support.
macOS
Dragging the app to the Trash is not enough, because Gamban installs a network extension through Apple’s Network Extension Framework. You will need administrator credentials. Delete the application from the Applications folder, empty the Trash, then check System Settings under General, then Login Items and Extensions, to see whether Gamban’s network extension is still there. If it lingers, ask Gamban support for their removal tool.
Android
Revoke Gamban’s device administrator privileges first. Open Settings, then Security, then Device Administrators (the exact path varies by manufacturer), and deactivate Gamban. The uninstall button stays grayed out until you do this. Then go to Settings, Apps, find Gamban, and tap Uninstall. You may also need to remove the VPN profile Gamban created under Settings, Network and Internet, VPN.
iOS and iPadOS
Deleting the app icon is only half the job. Go to Settings, General, VPN and Device Management (or Profiles on older iOS versions), find the Gamban profile, and delete it. Then press and hold the Gamban app icon on your home screen, tap Remove App, and confirm. Both the profile and the app have to go.
A Note Before You Remove It
