To cancel your CLEAR membership, sign in at my.clearme.com and cancel from the Membership section, or use CLEAR’s chat assistant or email memberservices@clearme.com. You’ll get a full refund of the $209 annual fee only if you cancel within 14 days of your most recent charge. After that window, no refund is issued, though your CLEAR+ access continues through the end of the paid term.
Cancel Online at my.clearme.com
The member portal is the fastest route. Three steps:
- Sign in at my.clearme.com with the email and password from your enrollment.
- Select “Membership” in the left-hand menu, then click the right arrow next to “CLEAR+ Membership.” This screen shows your pay structure and next billing date.
- Scroll past your membership details and benefits, choose “Cancel Membership,” and follow the prompts.
CLEAR will ask you to confirm and may ask why you’re leaving. Once you submit, the account moves to a non-renewing status. If you cancel inside the 14-day refund window, paid access ends immediately along with the refund. If you cancel later, you keep CLEAR+ lane access through the end of the current billing period.
Cancel by Chat or Email
If the portal gives you trouble, click “Chat with us” on any CLEAR support page to reach Halo, the digital assistant, which can process the cancellation in seconds. You can also email memberservices@clearme.com. Chat is usually faster; email replies can take a business day or two.
Whichever route you use, save the confirmation email or a screenshot. That documentation matters if a charge shows up on your card after you thought you were done.
Refunds and the 14-Day Window
CLEAR does not pro-rate. The policy has two tiers tied to your most recent charge:
- Cancel within 14 days of being charged: full refund for that term. CLEAR+ airport lane access ends on the cancellation date.
- Cancel after 14 days: no refund. You keep CLEAR+ lane access through the end of the annual term, and the membership won’t renew.
Eight months into a $209 year, you can cancel and finish out the remaining months, but no money comes back. A refund only exists in that first 14 days after each annual charge.
If You’re on a Free Trial
Trials from airline or credit card promotions convert automatically. Cancel before the last day of the trial and you’re not charged. Miss it by a day and the full annual fee posts to your card. If that happens, you still have 14 days from the charge date to cancel for a full refund. After that, you’re locked into the annual term.
What Happens to Family Members on Your Plan
A primary member can add up to three family members or friends at $125 each per year, and the primary controls all renewals and cancellations. Canceling the primary membership ends paid CLEAR+ access for everyone on the plan. Each add-on keeps their individual account and free CLEAR services, but rejoining CLEAR+ means buying a standalone membership at the $209 rate.
Check for a Discounted Rate Before You Cancel
If price is the reason you’re leaving, a partner discount may already apply to you:
- United Global Services members: free CLEAR+
- United Premier 1K and Delta Diamond Medallion members: $129 per year
- Military and government employees: $125 per year
- United Premier Platinum, Gold, or Silver members and United credit card holders: $169 per year
- United MileagePlus members (general): $199 per year
A new elite tier or a co-branded card can move you into a lower rate you weren’t getting before. Worth a check before you cancel outright.
Your Biometric Data Stays Unless You Ask
Canceling the paid membership does not delete your fingerprints or iris scans. Your account stays active with free CLEAR services, and your biometric data remains on file. To remove it, email privacy@clearme.com and request deletion of your personal data, including biometrics. Once processed, CLEAR kiosks will no longer recognize you, and re-enrollment would mean starting over at a physical kiosk.
Reactivating Later
If you might come back in a few months, keep the biometrics on file. Log in at my.clearme.com, click “Upgrade,” and complete checkout. CLEAR describes reactivation as fully digital with no airport kiosk visit required, so long as you haven’t requested biometric deletion. Cancel the paid membership to stop the charges, keep the free account, and turn CLEAR+ back on when you need it.
