To cancel your Build Your Store AI subscription, sign in and cancel from your account dashboard or email a cancellation request to support@buildyourstore.ai, then shut off the payment authorization at PayPal or with your card issuer so nothing slips through. One thing to know before you start: the company’s terms state that all sales are final and no refunds will be issued.1Build Your Store. Terms and Conditions Canceling stops future charges. It does not claw back money already paid.
First, Confirm Who Is Actually Charging You
Build Your Store AI markets its Shopify store builder as free, stating on its homepage that “you make 0 payments to BuildYourStore.ai.”2Build Your Store. Build Your Store – Free AI Shopify Store Builder The paid side is premium Shopify themes and other digital products. So a recurring charge on your statement could be coming from three different places: a Build Your Store AI premium product, your separate Shopify subscription (paid to Shopify), or a payment processor like PayPal running an active billing agreement.
Pull up your bank or card statement and read the exact merchant name on the charge. If it says “Shopify,” you need Shopify’s billing settings, not this cancellation. Getting this wrong is the fastest way to cancel the wrong thing and keep getting billed.
Cancel From the Account Dashboard
Log in with the email and password you registered with. Open the profile menu and look for Billing or Account Settings. Inside, you should see your current plan, the last four digits of your payment method, and a cancel option. Work through the confirmation screens, pick a reason if the platform asks, and confirm on the final screen.
Before you click that last button, note your billing cycle date. If renewal is two days out and processing takes 48 hours, another charge can land before the cancellation takes effect. Canceling well ahead of the renewal date is the safest move.
Cancel by Email
If the dashboard has no clear cancel option or the button won’t work, email a cancellation request to support@buildyourstore.ai, the contact address listed in the company’s privacy policy.3Build Your Store. Privacy Policy Send it from the address on the account. Include your full name, the account email, and a direct statement that you’re canceling. Something like: “I am requesting immediate cancellation of my account and all associated billing.” Short and clear works better than a long explanation.
Save the sent email. If no confirmation arrives within a few business days, send a follow-up referencing the date of the first request. That trail matters if you later have to dispute a charge.
Turn Off the Payment at the Source
Canceling the account is only half the job. The payment authorization sits with whoever processes the money, and killing it there prevents any surprise reactivation.
If You Paid With PayPal
PayPal lets you revoke the billing agreement directly, no matter what the merchant’s dashboard shows:4PayPal. What Is an Automatic Payment and How Do I Update or Cancel One
- Log in to PayPal and open Settings.
- Click Payments, then Subscriptions and Saved Businesses (or Automatic Payments).
- Find Build Your Store AI in the merchant list.
- Select it and click Cancel to revoke the billing agreement.
If You Paid With Stripe or a Card
Stripe has no self-serve customer portal for cancellations. Stripe explicitly says it is “not authorized to cancel subscriptions on behalf of customers” and tells you to contact the business directly; if the business is unresponsive, Stripe points customers to their bank to discuss a dispute.5Stripe. Cancelling a Subscription Made Through Stripe
For a card paid directly, call the number on the back and ask the issuer to block recurring charges from the merchant. Some banks let you set that block through the app or website. A stop-payment request may carry a fee, generally between $15 and $35.
Stop the Charges Through Your Bank
Federal law gives you a direct route to stop recurring electronic payments. Under the Electronic Fund Transfer Act, you can halt a preauthorized transfer by notifying your bank or credit union at least three business days before the next scheduled payment.6Office of the Law Revision Counsel. United States Code Title 15 – 1693e Preauthorized Transfers You can do it by phone or in writing. If you notify orally, the bank may require written confirmation within 14 days.
This right exists independently of the merchant’s cancellation policy. If the dashboard is broken and support is silent, your bank is still legally required to stop pulling funds once you invoke it. The notice just has to reach your financial institution in time.
Refunds and Charges After You Cancel
The terms state that “all sales are final” and that “no refunds will be issued under any circumstances.”1Build Your Store. Terms and Conditions That policy governs buyer’s remorse on a purchase you intentionally made. It does not override your rights when a company charges you after cancellation or bills you for something you didn’t authorize. That’s a billing error, and the rules are different.
For a credit card charge, you have 60 days from the date the statement was sent to notify your issuer in writing about the billing error.7Office of the Law Revision Counsel. United States Code Title 15 – 1666 Correction of Billing Errors Your notice needs your name, account number, the disputed amount, and why you believe it’s wrong. Send it separately from your payment stub, or use the issuer’s online dispute portal. For debit card charges, file a dispute with your bank. The FTC recommends starting online or by phone and following up with a written letter to the address the bank lists for billing disputes.8Federal Trade Commission. Documentation decides these disputes. Keep your cancellation confirmation email, a screenshot of the account showing canceled status, and any correspondence with the company.
Verify the Cancellation Took Effect
After you cancel, confirm it landed. Look for an automated confirmation email with a reference number or effective date. Log back in and check that the account status reads canceled or inactive. If you went through PayPal, verify the automatic payment for the merchant now shows as canceled.
Then watch your statements for at least two full billing cycles. Post-cancellation charges happen more often with digital subscriptions than most people expect, and catching one early gives you the best footing for a dispute. If a stray charge does appear, the 60-day dispute window under the Fair Credit Billing Act runs from the statement date, not the charge date.7Office of the Law Revision Counsel.
