Amazon won’t let you leave in one click. Amazon sends a confirmation email once the cancellation goes through. Save it in case a charge shows up later.
Canceling in the Amazon App
Open the app, tap your profile icon, and go to Your Account. Select Prime Membership, tap Manage Membership, then End Membership, and work through the same retention screens until you confirm on the final page. If the app hides the option or gives you trouble, open a mobile browser and go to amazon.com/mm/pipeline/cancellation instead.
Canceling a Free Trial Without Losing the Trial Period
If you signed up for a free trial and don’t want to be charged when it ends, cancel it right after signing up. Whether You’ll Get a Refund

“Unused” is strict. No orders with free Prime shipping, no Prime Video streaming, no Prime Music, no Prime Reading. A single free two-day shipment counts as using a benefit. Amazon’s terms limit the full refund to memberships where no eligible purchases were made and no benefits were used since the last charge.5Amazon. If you’ve used benefits, Amazon’s help pages don’t describe a partial refund option. You can contact customer service and ask, but there’s no guarantee.
What You Lose and When

A few things worth knowing before you confirm:
- If you share Prime through an Amazon Household, everyone on the plan loses shared shipping and digital-content access at the same time you do. Give them a heads-up.

- Songs you streamed through Prime Music become inaccessible; Amazon Music grays them out. Your Rights Under the FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule
The FTC finalized its Click-to-Cancel rule in October 2024. It requires businesses to make cancellation as easy as sign-up: if you subscribed online, you must be able to cancel online, without being forced to call, sit through a chatbot, or navigate an unreasonable number of steps.8Federal Trade Commission. The rule also requires clear disclosure that you’ll be charged when a trial ends, the deadline and method to cancel, and your informed consent before billing. If you believe Amazon made the process deceptively difficult or charged you without proper notice, you can file a complaint at ftc.gov/complaint. A single complaint won’t refund you directly, but a pattern of them drives enforcement.
